Special statement: The journal does not accept duplicate submissions or highly similar manuscripts. The information and academic achievements reflected in the manuscript must be original and previously unpublished. Once a manuscript is accepted by the journal, it will be disseminated through relevant online media together with the journal. Authors who object to this should declare it to the editorial office at the time of submission.

To further improve the standardization and normalization of editorial work for Chinese Livestock and Poultry Breeding and to meet the needs of internationalization and international exchange, the following requirements are established for submissions based on the journal’s circumstances. We appreciate authors’ support.

1 Title

The Chinese title should generally not exceed 25 Chinese characters. It should be concise, specific, and accurate, summarize the main point of the article, comply with principles for bibliographic records, indexing, and retrieval, and help with keyword selection. Articles with document codes A, B, or C should have corresponding English titles, generally no more than 10 content words.

2 Authors and Affiliations

(1) Every article should list author names. For Chinese authors, names in Chinese pinyin should be written with the surname first and given name second, separated by a space. The first letter of both surname and given name should be capitalized; two-character given names should be written together. Neither surnames nor given names may be abbreviated.

(2) Multiple author names should be separated by commas. Authors from different affiliations should be marked with Arabic numerals in superscript after their names.

(3) Each author affiliation should include the full institution name, province/city, and postal code. The institution name and province/city should be separated by a comma, and the entire item should be enclosed in parentheses. For multiple affiliations, place the same numeral used for the author name before each affiliation; affiliations should be separated by semicolons. The English affiliation should add “, China” after the postal code. See the manuscript template for details.

3 Brief Biographies of the First Author and Corresponding Author

Authors may publish brief biographies in the following order:

Name, degree, professional title, resume and research interests (optional); the corresponding author’s telephone number and email address may also be included. Add “Author Biography:” before the biography. Biographies of other major authors in the same article may be listed after the same “Author Biography:” label, separated by semicolons and ending with a period. The journal publishes biographies of the first author and corresponding author. See the manuscript template for details.

4 Funding Projects

Funding projects refer to the funding background of the article. Project names should be written using the official names specified by relevant national departments. Multiple funding projects should be listed in sequence and separated by semicolons. Project numbers should follow the project names and be enclosed in parentheses. Example:

Funding: National Science and Technology Support Program (2012BAH29B04) and 863 Program (2012AA101901).

5 Abstract

(1) Chinese abstracts should be prepared in accordance with GB/T 6447-2025. English abstracts should generally contain no fewer than 500 content words. Abstracts should be independent and self-explanatory and should not contain figures, tables, mathematical formulas, chemical structural formulas, or non-common symbols, terms, and abbreviations.

(2) The abstract should include the research objective, methods, results, and conclusion. Review and commentary articles may use indicative abstracts.

(3) The Chinese abstract should be concise, while the English abstract should provide a detailed introduction to the main content of the paper. Chinese and English abstracts do not need to correspond sentence by sentence. Use the corresponding abstract label before each abstract, and use "Abstract:" before the English abstract.

6 Keywords

(1) Generally select 3 to 8 keywords. Keywords should be selected according to the principles and methods of GB/T 3860-2009 with reference to thesauri and reference books. Important terms in new disciplines and technologies that are not included in thesauri, as well as personal names and place names in the article title, may also be used as keywords. Separate keywords with semicolons.

(2) Chinese and English keywords should correspond one to one. Use the corresponding keyword label before Chinese keywords, and use "Key words:" before English keywords.

7 Chinese Library Classification Number

Below the Chinese keywords, provide the article’s “Chinese Library Classification Number:” according to the Chinese Library Classification, 4th edition. An article usually lists one classification number; articles with multiple themes may list two or three. The primary classification number should be listed first, and multiple numbers should be separated by semicolons.

8 Document Code

Leave two spaces after “Chinese Library Classification Number:” and enter the article’s “Document Code:”. There are five document codes:

A - academic papers on theoretical and applied research, including reviews; B - reports on practical technical achievements; C - articles on operational guidance and technical management, including reviews and invited commentaries; D - general dynamic information, including communications, reports, conferences, and interviews; E - documents and materials, including historical materials, statistical data, institutions, people, books and journals, and knowledge introductions.

9 Main Text

(1) Main Text Structure

The main text should include the following sections:

Introduction (heading omitted), Materials and Methods, Results and Analysis, Discussion, Conclusion

or

(2) Hierarchical Heading Format

Level-1 headings: 1, 2, 3, 4 ... for example, 1 Materials and Methods

Level-2 headings: 1.1, 1.2, 2.1 ... for example, 1.1 Experimental Materials

Level-3 headings: 1.1.1, 1.1.2 ... for example, 1.1.1 Sample Sources

Other levels: (1), (2) ...; ①, ② ...; a, b ...; use as needed.

10 Figures and Tables in Articles

(1) The journal requires that each article generally contain no more than six figures and tables in total, and all should be numbered. Figure and table titles should be brief, accurate, and provided in both Chinese and English.

(2) Figures include curves, bar charts and histograms, structural diagrams, schematic diagrams, flowcharts, record charts, layout diagrams, maps, photographs, and others. Coordinate charts should use rectangular coordinates and indicate coordinate names and their SI units. In figures and tables, variable names and units should be separated by “/”, and compound units should be written in exponential product form.

(3) Computer-generated figures should use appropriate proportions. Letter variables in figures should be italicized, with a font size of 7 pt, so the figures can be used directly. Main lines should be thin solid lines, no thinner than 0.6 mm, with uniform thickness. Multiple curves should be clearly identified with Arabic numerals, and curves should be smoothly drawn.

(4) Figures and tables should be self-explanatory; figures, titles, and notes or legends should be clear. If data have already been presented as a curve chart, they do not need to be repeated in a table. Figure and table titles, including subfigure titles, should be brief and accurate and provided in both Chinese and English. Table headers, coordinate names in figures, legend names, table notes, and figure notes should also be provided in both Chinese and English. The Chinese and English content must be consistent, and the English translation must be accurate.

(5) Tables should use the internationally accepted three-line table format. Each column should indicate the quantity or test item, standard symbol, and unit. Abbreviations and quantity symbols in tables must be consistent with those in the main text.

11 References

(1) Number of references: generally about 30 references for research articles and no fewer than 50 for review articles.

(2) The journal uses the sequential numbering system for references. If there are no more than three primary authors, list all of them; if there are more than three, add “et al.” after the first three. Separate names with commas.
