Abstract: Horn is the tissue structure evolved by animals in the process of long-term evolution, and is one of the most iconic structures of ruminants, which plays an important role in the survival and reproduction of cattle. However, in the modern intensive beef cattle breeding industry, the existence of horns often causes a series of problems, which hinders the development of the beef cattle breeding industry, so the study of hornless traits of beef cattle is very important. This paper introduces the morphological structure and developmental characteristics of beef cattle horns, summarizes the genes related to hornless and horned development studied in recent years, and introduces some methods of hornless beef cattle breeding, aiming to provide some references for the research on hornless traits of beef cattle and the cultivation of new hornless varieties of beef cattle.
